Welcome members, colleagues and students!
I am honoured to serve as your Northern Alberta Chapter President for 2011-2012, and I invite
you to another fantastic year of meetings, workshops and social events. If you aren’t already a
member, please don’t be shy! I have only been involved with the chapter for about five years. In
that time I have enjoyed meeting and working with members from our chapter and across the
region.
Your Board of Governors has been busy making arrangements for engaging speakers, informative
topics and exciting programs to help keep you informed on the latest issues impacting our
industry, both locally and around the globe. We are here for you, so we need your input! Please
pass on your suggestions for topics, speakers, building tours or special events – we will do our
best to make it happen.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our chapter volunteers for all of their hard work,
energy and creativity. This chapter is only as strong as its members, so our volunteers really do
make a difference every day. If you would like to volunteer, please let me know. Any amount of
time is appreciated, given our busy lives balancing commitments at work and at home. We are
introducing a “job jar” program for volunteers to help with short, one-time tasks so that everyone
has an opportunity to contribute.
Be sure to check our website regularly for all of the latest information on upcoming events, dinner
meeting tickets, photo galleries, updates from Region and Society, as well as our industry calendar.
Feel free to forward details of your product showcase, open house, golf tournament or other
event (send to admin@ashraenac.org) and we will post it on the calendar as well. We kick off
the season with our annual Past Presidents Night on September 21st, so I look forward to seeing
you there!
Thank you,
Lindsay Austrom
