It’s been a good year for Young Engineers in ASHRAE (YEA) and Student Activities (SA). Student membership has increased over last year. The turnout at meetings has been great, and I look forward to seeing everyone one last time at the Craft lunch event on April 21st. The event last year turned out great with about 25 people attending, hopefully we’ll see the same numbers this year.
There were a few highlights from this year I wanted to mention. The first is another congratulations to Brian Fletcher and Wesley Semrok who were the winners of our two $750 Don Holt Scholarships. The awards were presented at our January student night meeting. This scholarship is presented every year, stay tuned in winter next year for the next one!
Our first YEA/SA event of the year was the annual Eskimos football game. As usual it was a great time with about 30 people attending the event. This event is turning into a YEA/SA tradition, and we’ll have another one in the fall.
We also attempted to get a group of people out to an Oil Kings game this year. The event was not the biggest hit. If you have any ideas for future YEA/SA events please let your YEA/SA chairs know!
We would also like to thank NAIT for allowing us to come in and talk about ASHRAE. The staff and students there have always been very accommodating and we always look forward to coming in and speaking.
We’ll see if there’s interest for one more summer YEA/SA event at the Craft lunch. If not, thanks for a great year and I look forward to next year!
