Topic Summary:
Heat pumping is becoming a household term all of a sudden. In this presentation, Greg explores the reasons for this new found appreciation of Heat Pumps and the carbon emission reductions that are possible (Even in Alberta!) and discusses several of the challenges that are faced designing, installing, and operating heat pumps. The focus of the presentation will be mainly on large scale and high temperature heat pumping that is more frequently being implemented in process and district heating plants, however Greg will also dive into his experience with his own personal low ambient heat pump that he installed on his house in Northern Saskatchewan.
Speakers Bio:
Greg Scrivener began in the refrigeration industry as an apprentice refrigeration mechanic in 1997. From technical equipment service to design and project management, Greg has experience in almost all aspects of the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of commercial and industrial refrigeration systems. He also has the expertise necessary to contribute to investigations and to prepare expert opinion reports. Greg completed a Bachelor of Science in Engineering at the University of Saskatchewan and is a registered Professional Engineer. Greg is also a member of the International Institute of Ammonia Refrigeration (IIAR), the International Institute of Refrigeration (IIR) and is currently serving on multiple technical and standard committees for ASHRAE. Greg is currently Lead Refrigeration Engineer and a Partner at Laporte Engineering where he leads the North American refrigeration engineering team.
